Following the successful completion of an initial (fitout) phase of our clients European manufacturing base, Co Mayo, Taylor Group was awarded the design of a c.€86 million project which reflected our clients’ confidence in Taylor Group as design partner and the wider Med-Tech industry in the West of Ireland, supporting their further expansion and marketing opportunities in the EMEA region.
Overview
Taylor Group was engaged to masterplan the future development of the Co. Mayo facility supporting the continued phased expansion of their site operations over a 15 year period.
The initial phase of the site master plan was a multi-product expansion project, with an overall floor area of c.16,374m2, that provided additional production capability, principally around the assembly of components and associated activities.
The expansion follows the completion of a fitout project of an IDA Advance Technology Building and road realignment project specifically designed to accommodate our clients planned expansion programme.
The project was successfully taken through all stages of design and statutory compliance by Taylor Group with the support of MKO Planning Consultants.
The project represented a major overseas investment for our client and as such required close liaison with our clients’ Global Engineering and site Engineering teams. The project has very specific requirements around single-use manufacturing, and cleanroom layouts are planned in detail for equipment locations, services provision cGMP, and maintenance. Full engagement with stakeholders identified the requirement for the future planning of additional manufacturing capability and as such services and utilities provision support this strategy. The design also allowed for the maximum allowable overall building height in compliance with planning codes to secure the largest possible manufacturing footprint that the site could support.
