In Taylor Group Fire Safety Engineering relates to the holistic approach to fire protection through the implementation of a myriad of engineering techniques which can minimise the impact of fire on a building with the ultimate goal being the safety of building occupants and improved building resilience.

We execute Fire Engineering studies with proposals for compliance on buildings which are subject to expansion and incremental change over the years and compliance is now a matter of urgency.

To ensure compliance with the regulations we provide a focused approach to fire engineering in building design, which ensures that a facility and its occupants are safe from the dangers associated with fire as can reasonably be expected. The primary design parameters are the Irish Building Codes and FM/NFPA compliance (where applicable) which provides the minimum requirements for the design and installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems and exposure protection sprinkler systems.

We execute Fire Safety Risk Assessments (FSRA) to assess the planned operations in the context of fire risk and establish what, if any, specific requirements may be applicable to ensure facility compliance.

We implement the following hazard classifications codes which provide criteria for the classification of occupancy hazard and commodity classification:

Light Hazard

Where the quantity and/or combustibility of content is low and fires with relatively low rates of heat release are expected.

Ordinary Hazard

Where combustibility is low, the quantity of combustibles is moderate, stockpiles do not exceed 8ft/12ft., and fires with moderate rates of heat release are expected.

Extra Hazard

Where the quantity and combustibility of contents are very high and dust, lint or other materials are present, introducing the probability of rapidly developing fires with high rates of heat release but with little or no combustible or flammable liquids.

Taylor Group’s success is built upon its most important asset, our people, and our people are our brand.
